Azra Meseli won 3rd place in the Song Derby national singing competition
Our first-year student, Azra Meseli, majoring in classical singing at the Béla Bartók Faculty of Arts, SZTE, achieved an excellent result at the Song Derby national singing competition: she won 3rd place in the operetta category.
Her tutor was our Faculty’s professor, Zhang Yu Carolyn.
The competition was organized by the Musical School of Budapest, aiming to provide an independent, high-quality forum for young talents interested in musical theatre. The competition, that was open to the age group ranging from 8-35 year olds, gave participants the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate their singing skills in front of a renowned professional jury and the general public.
The Song Derby consisted of two rounds: the first round took place online, while the final round was live, in front of the audience and the jury. During the competition, participants had to prepare three different songs to demonstrate their versatile performing skills.
