Information for Foreign Students Amid the Pandemic Situation

The University of Szeged is aware that times are hard for applicants intending to pursue studies abroad, as well as for students who are already studying in foreign countries. Due to the pandemic situation regulations change day by day which can make it hard to keep up with the information that is most relevant to you.

However, on behalf of the University of Szeged, what we can definitely state is, that the academic year will begin in the fall. Either in the traditional way, requiring personal presence, or online. Based on the experiences of the last semester, we are prepared for online teaching. The final scenario will depend on the pandemic regulations which will be in force at the end of August.

We very much hope that the travel restrictions will be further loosened and that all our students, including freshmen, will be able to enter the country.

Currently students intending to come to Hungary, need to submit a „leniency application” form at the respective authorities. On the following page you can find a guide and the translation of the form.

In case of students coming from countries, where quarantine measures need to be taken, the place and conditions of quarantine will be set centrally by the Government. Students will have to undergo a COVID test upon arrival to the University of Szeged, which will be coordinated and handled by the Clinical Center of the University.

Please rest assured that we are trying to cope with the situation as flexible as possible and that we will do everything within our power to keep our students updated and help them in the necessary procedures.
