43rd Young Composer Competition, Frederic Mompou International Award Barcelona 2022

Any composer who is no older than 35 on 31 December 2022 can participate in this competition.

The works must be completely unknown. They must not have been previously performed, published or disseminated in any format.

This year chamber ensemble consisting of violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn, with a minimum of seven instruments and no repeated instruments.

The style and scoring methods of the work are completely unrestricted. The recommended duration is between 10 and 18 minutes.


The award consists of: 

Prize money of €4,000. At the event there will also be a recording of the work that will be made available to the winner and posted on social media.


Sending the scores:

As the scores will be presented anonymously, therefore a pseudonym must be used. All scores presented must be legible at first sight. A score that is badly written may be refused.


How to apply:

• Send the score in 1 PDF file. The name of the file must be the title of your work.

• Send 1 PDF file with the fully-completed entry form, passport or identity card and a brief curriculum vitae. The name of this file must be your pseudonym.

Files must be in ZIP or RAR format, sent via WeTransfer to mompouaward@jmbarcelona.com.


Deadline: Friday, October 14, 2022.


The jury’s verdict of the work presented will be announced before November 30, 2022.
